Roy Edward Womack, 97 of Cameron, Missouri and a former resident of Albany, Missouri passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron. Roy was born December 31, 1917 in East St. Louis, Illinois. He was the son of Herman Womack and Effie Leriche. His parents preceded him in death. On August 3, 1947, Roy was united in marriage to Geraldine Sexton. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2003. Roy was activated in November of 1940 into the local 128th Field Artillery. Many members of this unit were together throughout the entire war. He served in the 6th Armored Division, General George Patton's Third Army, in battles through Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and central Europe. Roy was awarded a bronze star for valor and five campaign stars. Roy was a Rancher. He was a member of the American Legion Post #106, VFW Post #5329 and the First Presbyterian Church all of Albany. Survivors: sister, Lavern Orlowski, Columbus, OH; nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Friday, January 16 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany.
