Sarah Joyce (Guess) Newman was born June 26, 1926 on the family farm near Albany , Missouri . She passed away on June 1, 2016 just 25 days short of her 90th blrthday.

Joyce was the second of ten children and the only girl of Wayne and Doris (Madden) Guess. Her brothers were Max, Maurice, Forrest, Wendell, Jim, Vince, Glee, Larry, and Bill. With so many brothers she found comfort and companionship with her sisters-in-law Freda, Nell, Donna, Glenda and Sandi.

Upon graduating from Albany High School she attended Northwest Normal School, and then taught grades one through eight in a one room school house near King City, Missouri.

In 1949 she married Dr. Larry Felz, Optometrist. They raised three children.

Joyce was a fabulous cook and loved hosting large family gatherings. She particularly enjoyed the Gillespie-Caster-Guess reunions.

Joyce worked for the Albany R-III School District for 25 years, and mentored many students, teachers, and high school principals.

Upon retirement she assisted the ladies of the Albany United Methodist Women's group in entertaining residents at the Albany Colonial Manor. She thoroughly enjoyed awarding candy to the bingo winners.

Joyce was a member of many clubs and was a charter member of the original chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Albany .

Joyce is survived by her children, Dr. Mike (Susie) Felz, Mark Felz, and Mindy (Danny) Marsh; six grandchildren Quentin (Kat) Marsh, Daniel Felz, Anna Felz, Rory (Billy) Ibarra, Joe (Sarah) Felz, and Tim Felz; and three great grandchildren Elliot and Brady Marsh, and Elizabeth Ibarra.

Joyce was caring and always ready for a good conversation. Her quick wit and contagious laughter will be missed.
