Obituary

Stephen Charles Wilson, 69, was born June 9, 1948 in Bethany, Missouri, the only child of the late Charles Randall and Glena June (Stevens) Wilson and passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at his home in Albany, Missouri.

Steve grew up north of Albany on the homestead place of his great-grandparents Clark and Sarah Noble.  Steve's grandparents Jasper and Sarah Lydia Wilson and his father Randall had lived in the homestead house and worked the same land.  Steve grew up in a loving Christian family.  Although his grandparents had passed away before he was grown, he relayed many happy memories of family get togethers.  To Steve, his Aunt Ruby and Uncle Earl Wilson were like grandparents.  He helped on the farm at an early age and was active in high school with FFA.  After the death of his father, Steve continued to enjoy the cattle until ill health fell upon him.

Steve married Liz Morgan in 1975 and they had one daughter Lori Beth Crawford. With his daughter Karri Ranae from a previous marriage he had two beautiful daughters whom he adored. Steve and Liz lived and worked in Albany all of their adult lives.  They enjoyed their home and in early years, did many home projects together.  They always said if they could wallpaper together, their marriage would be everlasting and it was.  They collected family heirlooms and bought other antique pieces. Steve was very meticulous refinishing each piece.  Steve and Liz took several vacations while they were working.  Always having a dream of traveling when they retired, they were able to reminisce about the many trips they took before his health changed.  His favorite vacation was Yellowstone National Park.  Besides the love he had for his wife, daughters and grandchildren, Steve had a love for driving his 1966 Chevelle.

Steve worked for the City of Albany for 32 years as an electrical lineman.  Norman "Bull" Davis was his work partner and closest friend. They spent many nights out in blizzards, thunderstorms, extreme heat and cold while working to keep the lights on in Albany.  Steve never complained when the phone rang, he jumped in the truck and headed for City Hall.

He attended the Liberty Wayman Presbyterian Church as a child and young man. Later Steve was baptized and he and Liz attended the Albany Baptist Church.  He believed in Jesus Christ as the way to eternal life.  Steve and Liz talked many times about what it would be like in Heaven, being reunited with his father, which Steve thought of like a best friend and loosing his mother after a lengthy illness, making a hole in his heart that could not be mended.

Steve was a humble man with a great sense of humor. He had numerous health problems and fought a courageous battle, never complaining.  He always liked to joke, "it wouldn't do any good anyway, no one would listen," then say, "just waiting for someone to laugh!"

Survivors: wife, Liz of the home; daughters Lori (Mike) Crawford; Karri (Sand) Phillips; grandchildren, Jordan (Kevin) Stoll, Addisyn Crawford, Beckett and Garret Phillips, all of Albany.
