Obituary

Truman Wayne Wharton, 80 of Stanberry passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at a St. Joseph hospital. Truman, the son of Theodore and Basha (Pierce) Wharton was born April 29, 1929 north of Alanthus, Missouri on a farm. On October 28, 1947, Truman was united in marriage to Norma Jean Lane. To this union two children were born, Martha and Keith. Truman and Norma were married for 58 years at the time of her death on November 12, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ronald Boyd and Rex Wharton and an infant sister. Truman was a jack of all trades, he was a farmer while growing up and when first married, worked as an electronics repairman, ran a grocery store with his brother-in-law, drove a school bus for Stanberry RII for 40 years and had a successful family restaurant business for 17 years. Surviving are his two chilren, Martha and Keith Wharton of Stanberry; brother, Laton Wharton, St. Joseph; sisters, Ruby Bentley, Stanberry; Sharon Howell, St. Joseph and many nieces and nephews.
