Obituary

Vancil Ross Silkett, 78, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away May 4, 2020 at his home. He was born to Marjorie (Gillespie) and William (Bill) Silkett in Gentry County on June 23, 1941.

Vancil graduated from Albany High School, class of 1959.

He married Thelma C. Eisenbarger June 24, 1962 until she passed on January 6, 1998. He married Glenna Cottrill on May 20, 1999. She passed away December 22, 2013.

Vancil joined the Navy July 16, 1959. He served aboard the USS Gunston Hall LSD 5 as a mechanics mate, third class stationed in California, serving until July 11, 1963. After discharged from the Navy, he and Thelma moved to St. Joseph to start their family.

He worked in quality control for Johnson Controls in St. Joseph for many years before retiring.

Survivors: daughters, Anita (Tia) Brott-Silkett; Cheryl Silkett; grandchildren, Scott (Andrea) Shavnore, Stephanie Shavnore; Haylee Silkett; great grandchildren, Cooper Ross, Olivia Shavnore, Lorenzo Lesson.
