Vernon McCord, 79 of Nixa, Missouri and a former resident of Albany, Missouri passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 in Springfield, Missouri. Vernon, the son of Ben and Anna (Hulet) McCord was born June 24, 1933 in Denver, Missouri. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Etta Krumme and brother, Victor McCord. Vernon served in Germany with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer in Gentry County and a member of the Denver Christian Church. On May 25, 1957, he was united in marriage to Beverly Olney. She survives of the home in Nixa, Missouri. He is also survived by son, Rick McCord, Albany; daughters, Terri (Brian) Holland, Nixa, MO; Cherri Shipman, Farmington, MO; son-in-law, Perry Shipman, Nixa, MO; sister, Martha Ray, Grant City, MO; 5 grandchildren, Taylor, Sammi and Brenna Holland, Sabrina and Priscilla Shipman; 3 step-grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel and Bryan Griffin; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 16 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with burial in the Miller Cemetery, Denver, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany, where friends may call anytime after 2:00 PM Tuesday.
