William J. Crouch 77 of Albany passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 5, 2008. His passing came after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and cancer. William was the son of William and Katheryn Crouch, born on June 29, 1931 in Shelton, Nebraska. William moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska with his family in 1937. He graduated from Gothenburg Public Schools in 1950 and married Darlene Bowdish in Broken Bow, Nebraska on March 14, 1951. To this union, 3 sons and one daughter were born. William was a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Nebraska Army National Guard and worked with his father in his carpenter shop until 1957 when he bagan working for the City of Gothenburg. In 1996 he retired as the Public Works Director for the City of Gothenburg after 40 years of service. William and Darlene moved to Albany in 1996 and built their retirement home on their lovely farm south of Albany. William spent his last years enjoying country life with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Irene Mitchell, Gladys Bonner and Bernice Block.
