Obituary

William (Bill) Nance, of Albany, Missouri, passed away on March 23, 2015 at the King City Manor, King City, Missouri at the age of 84. Bill was born May 7, 1930 in Stanberry, Missouri, the only child of William Etheridge and Elizabeth (Sweat) Nance. He attended school all 12 years at Stanberry, graduating in 1948, then later graduating from Missouri University, Columbia. As a teenager he was awarded the Eagle Scout in 1946. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a member of the army band stationed at Fort Knox. On November 29, 1952, he married Phyllis (Betty) Pierce, to this union was born 3 children, William Alan Nance (deceased), Pamela Lee Wiederholt (deceased) and Thomas A. Nance, Cameron, MO; 5 grandchildren, Stacey Lee Wiederholt, Joshua Alan Wiederholt, Bryan Wiederholt, Jason Nance and Justin Nance and six great-grandchildren. Bill had served a number of positions in volunteer associations, some being: past chairman and state president for the Association for Retarded Children, State and National Chairman for the US Jaycees-Mental Retardation/Mental Health Program, past president of the Albany Rotary Club, board member of the Gentry County Hospital, past president of the Opportunity Workshop, Stanberry and several others. After serving in the US Army he made his home in Albany and worked with his father, WE Nance in the family business (Nance Lumber Co.) in Stanberry and Albany. Later working at selling insurance, real estate and banking. Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Friday, March 27 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany with inurnment in the Carmack Cemetery at a later date. The body has been cremated. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday.
